About Michael Castillo

Michael Castillo is a Southern California mixed-media artist whose work explores the search for inner and outer peace through intricate pencil drawing, sculpture, custom-built frames, wood, resin, light, and installation.

Castillo creates work that invites viewers to slow down and look deeper. At the center of much of his artwork is the eye—a symbol of awareness, perspective, and the lifelong search for serenity. Recurring themes of balance, transformation, resilience, love, energy, time, and personal growth connect each piece into a larger visual narrative.

Rather than treating the frame as a border, Castillo designs it as part of the artwork itself. Reclaimed wood, dimensional construction, resin, lighting, and sculptural elements extend each piece beyond the page, creating immersive works that blur the line between drawing and sculpture.

His signature body of work, The Transformation Collection, explores the stages of the human journey—from searching for wisdom, balance, and transformation. Every piece is intended to reward closer inspection, revealing hidden details and symbolism that emerge over time.

Castillo is also the founder of Serenity Coalition, an organization that uses art to inspire creativity, community, and conversations about finding peace through self-expression. Through exhibitions, workshops, and collaborative projects, he encourages people of all ages to see art as a tool for connection, healing, and personal growth.

Today, his work continues to evolve into large-scale sculpture, kinetic installations, and immersive experiences while remaining grounded in a simple belief:

Art has the power to change perspective—and sometimes, changing perspective can change a life.
